Has it really been a year since I first hosted for Central Station?!
Of course a lot has happened since then: a 7 week road trip throughout Aus with my best mate, Teesh and our combined 21 dogs, and, more outside work with the trusty team. It just gets better and better!
I was pretty organised as a blogger last year, but this time I’ve left it until the last minute (ed – even though I’ve been reminding her ALL year!), and what am I going to write about? I suppose I’ll talk about dogs (again!) and what we’ve been up to as a team.
So George and I are still managing the farm in Badgingarra. I’m also still looking after my sister and brother-in-law’s block not far from where we live. It’s been a bit quiet work wise for the dogs recently, but our boss now owns a cattle station in the Gascoyne, so sale cattle have been coming down from there which means we are getting busy again.
On the other block there are only about 350 head of sale cattle, with more to come soon so I am over there every few days checking them and their waters. I generally shift them every week or so depending on the paddock and the time of year. The cattle are all fully dog educated and are a delight to handle. It’s my happy place looking after them, and nice easy work for the dogs too.
I’m getting more outside local work educating livestock for property owners which is fantastic. The benefits of handling stock with dogs are endless, and I love the opportunity to work on different properties, and have a positive effect on their farming enterprise. I’ve had good feed back about the results which is even better!
Thanks for tuning in, I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you more about some of the epic road trips I’ve been on in the last 12 months!
