Bullara Station

The Shallcross family have owned the Station since the late 1950s. Tim, Edwina and their three daughters welcome you to experience the working outback cattle station. Take a step back from the daily grind look up, not down as they say and enjoy the serenity of an untouched environment. Enjoy the interaction with animals that roam freely and the uninterrupted night skies that will blow your mind.

The Station which sprawls across ¼ million acres is known as Punurrba by the local Yingarrda people, or ‘Seabreeze’, but the name Bullara derives from an early state-owned boat that sailed up the coast in the 1900s.  Over three generations the Shallcross family have farmed Merino sheep for wool production, moved onto Meat sheep (Damaras) as dictated by the markets and wild dog impact. Currently the family breed Droughtmaster cattle with a focus on best practice cattle husbandry, which is crucial for providing top quality and flavoursome beef.  Combined with the nature-based outback accommodation the Agritourism story has flourished. The focus on sustainability, recycling and a quirky ‘live in our shoes’ environment are paramount.

At Bullara we cater for singles, families, large groups and even your pets.  We are an easy 1km 2WD accessible drive from the main road, have accommodation options to suit everyone, have Telstra signal and an array of activities and experiences to keep you as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.

With a short drive you could spend your morning snorkelling or swimming with mantas and whale sharks and then back to the Station for a lazy afternoon in a hammock and an evening round a fire pit sharing stories with fellow travellers.

Tim and Edwina are passionate about you making connections with the land and it’s people and fostering memories for life, after all spending time in nature makes us all better beings! They look forward to meeting new faces and welcoming back the old.
