Success in the show ring for the KRC

Host: Charles Darwin University, Katherine Rural Campus

We can come up for air now the show season is over. The cows are turned out in the paddock in preparation for calving, the bulls are busy and the students are out on work experience.

2016 local shows were a success for all cattle and students in the halter led classes. Katherine’s weather turned quiet chilly for the 6am shampooing duties, while Darwin heat seen the mercury rise for the annual four day program.

Katherine Rural Campus’s Brahman Stud was showcased by a variety of handlers;

  • Seven full time students (studying a Certificate II in Agriculture )
  • Two VETiS (Vocational Education Training in School – From Katherine High School)
  • Five Rural Industry Skills Training (RIST) students from Victoria.

We would like to invite any young people from the Rural Industry, remote communities or local school students to contact the Katherine Rural Campus if you would be interested in studying and competing with the Stud Show team for 2017. See the end of this post.
