Host: Eversleigh Station Written by Jenny Underwood – Owner, Eversleigh Station. The majority of cattle properties throughout northern Australia naturally mate their cows – bulls are put into the paddocks with the females and then nature is allowed to take its course. A lot of cattle operations use controlled mating – the bulls are joined […]
Host: Eversleigh Station Written by Jenny Underwood – Owner, Eversleigh Station. They say that “Life Begins at 40”. I still had one year to go to reach that milestone, but certainly my life changed completely, and for the better, in 1998 when I resigned from the Department of Education and became a full-time grazier. I […]
Host: Eversleigh Station Written by Jenny Underwood – Owner, Eversleigh Station. “You’re mad! Why do you want to go to live and work way out there?” This was the reaction I received from friends when I announced that I was heading west to take up a teaching position at Cameron Downs, a one-teacher school on […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Helen Stoate – Owner, Anna Plains Station. A few years ago I packed my backpack and left home for what I thought was a gap year between high school and University. Home was in the United Kingdom and I was on a journey that would change my whole life but I […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Helen Stoate – Owner, Anna Plains Station. My adventure began 16,000 kilometres away from Australia. Somewhere over there on the other side of the world is a small town named Veen, which I call home. It is near Düsseldorf in Germany. After I finished my studies back home in Germany, I […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Helen Stoate – Owner, Anna Plains Station. A typical day at Anna is a long and exhausting one. Up at 4:45am to get ready, the clothes sorting to determine what’s dirty and what’s not starts. This is followed by slapping on makeup and trying to tame my hair into something that doesn’t resemble […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Warren – Mechanic, Anna Plains Station. If you had of asked me six months ago, where I could see myself today, the last thing I would have told you is on a cattle station in Western Australia 250km away from the closest town! Six months down the track, and here […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Helen Stoate – Owner, Anna Plains Station. Born into and blinded by the bright lights of Sydney, all things waxed, bleached, brand named, and manicured were highly regarded. If you didn’t spend half an hour each morning putting on your Kate Moss endorsed war paint you stood out like a bad […]
Host: Anna Plains Station Written by Helen Stoate – Owner, Anna Plains Station. It is still early in the season on the Plains. In the early part of the year it is all about getting ready for mustering. The lead up to mustering is a bit like the feeling you get when playing cricket and you are […]

Host: Koordarrie Station Written by Kristie de Pledge – Owner, Koordarrie Station. The story continues . . . Planting lawn before the summer rains (fingers crossed!) come. A little rain has fallen and given the small trees and lawns a good start, as well as the grass for the cattle. Lawn is going well, shadecloth […]
Host: Koordarrie Station Written by Kristie de Pledge – Owner, Koordarrie Station. It has been an interesting journey so far and the first eight months or so were probably the hardest for myself more than Rory as he continued on as he normally did, mustering and so on next door. But the kids and I […]

Host: Koordarrie Station Written by Kristie de Pledge – Owner, Koordarrie Station. The alarm goes off. It is a nice quiet sort of alarm, I detest the nerve jangling, brain rattling alarms that give you a heart attack! So at the early hour of 3:30am, we rise out of bed, to get the kids ready […]
Host: Koordarrie Station Written by Kristie de Pledge – Owner, Koordarrie Station. It has been a busy two weeks for the de Pledge family. We travelled 800km to my husband’s family property for three nights, to talk business and assess where we were at and where we were going. It was lovely to see the […]
Host: Koordarrie Station Written by Kristie de Pledge – Owner, Koordarrie Station. We’ve been lucky enough to have had some rain this summer. I feel quite ridiculous when I say that even though we’ve had some, we’re not quite right just yet. Compared to our eastern neighbours, we are in a jungle. Having grown up […]
Host: Lisa Wood/ AGP Indonesia Written by Lisa Wood – Traceability Officer, AGP. Because I’m a glutton for punishment, I had great ideals of sharing my improved circumstances with you all; yet failed on the photo front. This year, I moved again and bought myself a hot water service that is for my shower only. […]
